Today we have more specs and confirmation of the new pixel fold 5G and it’s looking like an incredible smartphone.
So the first story of the day we have got a tweet from a reliable display analyst Ross Young and he confirmed that the pixel fold display size he tweeted that a coupled of days ago and advises that the pixel fold 5G cover display is going to be 5.8 inches which is a little bit smaller than something like Z-fold 3.6.2 inch and it should mean that we get a wider aspect ratio.
We don’t have any details on the resolution or the refresh rate yet but considering even the pixel 6 has a 90 hertz then we expect it to be at least 90 hertz and when it comes to the main internal display Ross Young previously told us that they will be getting a 7.75 inch display and that will be a 120 hertz LTPO display.
Ross young also tweeted to advise that the pixel fold panel production is going to start in the third quarter of this year and the launch is set for the final quarter now we normally see the pixel phones launching in October so it could be that the pixel 7 and the new pixel fold 5G are going to share a launch date.
The general design of the pixel fold has also been revealed thanks to secret illustrations that were found in android 12 I beta so the first image that shows us the pixel fold in the closed position with the sim removal tool and in the second image it shows a filly open pixel fold with the sim card going into the bottom of the Pixel fold, it is assumed that these are obviously going to be part of the sim insertion animation that users are going to see when setting up pixel fold.
What we are referring to the device is the Pixel fold we also have a report from 9to5Google that says their inside resource says that the phone is currently called The Pixel Notepad by now this name isn’t set in stone just yet and of course google always use code names and they have been known to rename things last minute before so until when we get some solid confirmation we will keep referring to it as the Google Pixel Fold 5G we have also got new information discovered in Google’s camera app and in here the phone is being referred to as the pixel Fold 5G.
We also have camera specification revealed in the same code and it’s not the same camera setup that we saw in the pixel 6 either now the code reveal that the main camera on the pixel Fold 5G is a 12.2 Megapixel Sony IMX 363 and then the secondary camera is 12 Megapixel Sony IMX 386 and of course it has an ultra wide lens now the code also reveals two selfie cameras which are both 8 Megapixel Sony IMX 386 this is no doubt that is going to be one more camera on the cover display then another camera on the main display there’s also many rumors still about in-display selfie camera on the pixel Fold 6G but these are simply just rumors there’s just no way Google is going to use in-display technology as it’s just not ready yet.
In terms of the fold itself google have already been granted a patent from the USA patent office this is for a multi-axis soft hinge mechanism it was a 58-page document and it describes an advanced hinge system to create a minimal seam when the device is actually folded it describes an inward folding screen which is of course what google is planning to use in google pixel fold 5G this is no doubt going to be for the pixel fold 5G.
Now 9to5mac internal source has also revealed that the pixel fold 5g is aiming to be cheaper that its competitors and of course this is the best way for them to gain some of the foldable market share their source revealed that google are aiming to launch the pixel fold 5G at about $1399 well that is still a lot of money if you compare it to its main competitors The Z-Fold the that the launches at around $1800 well spec wise it probably won’t be good as the upcoming Z-Fold 4 but with roughly a $400 saving compared to that.
Then it is going to be attractive to many now we have many concepts cropping up with some looking like the Pixel 5 and then others looking like the pixel 6 but there are just simply concept renders the two illustration that you just passed early are actually only information we have on the design at the moment and personally I think we are going to see a new design but with a little bit of inspiration from the pixel 6 because it’s a new device they’re not going to want to be out there with the design as a sales on their first foldable phone.

Overall it’s looking like a great phone and it’s great to see after the new look of their recent pixels they’re continuing to make their way into the foldable market.
Foldable devices are expected to gain more market as the years goes on and the Pixel Fold 5G will definitely be helping.
